I have had the privilege to build many custom furniture items for Bethlehem Baptist Church. One of my favorite pieces I’ve ever built resides there, it’s the communion table. Most of the items I built for BBC are made of oak, and many have tile inlay tops. There are too many to write specifically about each of them, but let me just mention a few things about some of them.
Notice how the tables have a similar look to the tables I built with the windows (see table page). If I have a signature item it would probably be this style of a table. The tile on the top of the communion table is quite astonishing. There is a quartz vein running full length through every tile. This is not only an amazing considering how tile is cut, but also very symbolic with the meaning of communion (ie – red vein symbolic of “the blood”).
The 16′ Easter cross is not solid wood, though it looks like it. It’s made of 2″ cedar stock, and then hacked at with an adz tool and a skill saw.
The info booth is a sectional item. The two side pieces are on casters and can stand alone as individual pieces. The idea was that during the church service it is an info both, but then say for a wedding, it can be moved around to act as a gift table and guest book table.
If you want more details about a certain piece let me know.
